Watch specifications

What Crystals does Moog Paris use?

We only use Swarovski elements for our watches.

What is a quartz watch?

Quartz watches are battery powered. More specifically, a quartz watch has an electronic oscillator powered by a quartz crystal that creates an extremely accurate measurement of time.

What is the lifespan of a watch battery?

There are many factors which affect battery life; including the type of the watch, its dimensions, the different functions of the movement and also the capacity of the battery. In most cases, a battery in a brand new quartz watch with a basic time and date functionality may last up to three years.

What is a mechanical watch?

A mechanical watch is a watch that uses a mechanical movement to measure the passage of time. It is driven by a spring (called a mainspring) which must be wound periodically. Its force is transmitted through a series of gears to power the balance wheel (a weighted wheel which oscillates back and forth at a constant rate).

What is the power reserve for a self-winding mechanical watch?

The functioning of a self-winding mechanical movement depends on the wrist movements of the person wearing it. When fully wound, a watch will usually have a power reserve of around 48 hours.

Is my Moog Paris watch waterproof?

Most of Moog watches are waterproof. The resistance of a watch is always shown on the back of the case, therefore, if no indication is given, then your watch is not waterproof.

Water resistant watches:

30 meter / 3 ATM waterproof watch:

30 meter water-resistant watch will not allow any immersion and can only withstand occasional splashes.

50 meter / 5 ATM waterproof watch

50 meter water-resistant watch will allow immersion but with a quiet use such as tub bath and pool bath without diving. On the other hand, a direct shower or tap directly on the glass or the push buttons can be equivalent to a pressure of 50 meters and your watch may then take water.

100 meter / 10 ATM waterproof watch

100 meter water-resistant watch  is suitable for swimming and shallow diving.

200 meter / 20 ATM waterproof watch

200 meter water-resistant watch will allow use in deep water such as scuba diving, jet skiing, or diving.

Are Moog Paris watches made of solid gold or are they gold-plated?

All our gold and rose-gold watches are gold-plated.

Do Moog stainless steel watches contain nickel?

The stainless steel used in our watches does not contain nickel. This means that there is no danger for a person with a nickel allergy. However, Moog Paris recommends buying a titanium, gold or PVD coated watches, if you have a sensitive reaction to stainless steel.

What should I do to prolong the life of my watch?

Magnetic fields: Whenever possible keep your watch away from magnetic fields like loudspeakers, refrigerators, certain handbag clasps, etc. Such devices produce strong magnetic fields that may affect the functionality of your watch movement and influence the accuracy of time keeping.

Shocks: We recommend you to avoid any kind of shocks and not to wear your watch during sports like basketball, or similar activities because they could cause heavy shocks and damage the watch.

Crown: screw it in carefully to ensure that no water enters the mechanism.

Cleaning: for metal bracelets and for all water-resistant cases use a toothbrush with soapy water and a soft cloth for drying.

Chemical products: avoid the direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetic products etc., as they may damage the bracelet, the case or the gaskets.

Temperatures: avoid extreme temperatures (above 60C, or 140F, below 0C, or 32F).
